How the ear works

We have been lerning about changing sound, however today we were learning about the human ear and the bones in it, like: the ear canal, the Ear flap, the Stirrup, Anvil, Hammer bone, Auditory nerve, Cochlea, Semi-cercular canals and finally the ear drum; over all it was a fun and exciting lesson! Football

Yesterday in football club, Oscar showed fantasic leadership skills! He gave clear and concise instructions alongside demonstrations. He checked that everyone was able to complete the tasks set accurately and if they needed extra help he spent time supporting them. Oscar, I am extremely proud of what you achieved yesterday and I look forward to seeing you in action leading activities today during the Interhouse Netball Tournament. Miss Williams

Write instructions

In our crystal groups we wrote a set of instructions to get from our classroom to the school garden. Before writing our instructions we needed to recap what the features of instructions are,for example, bossy verbs, concise vocabulary, 2nd person, time connectives, chronological order, etc. We started writing our instructions in bullet points after we decided on the route we wanted to take. Once we had completed our concise instructions we swapped with the other group and followed the instructions. However this wasn't as easy as we thought! We needed to be really specific. On our first route we ended up at Cottage No.5 instead of the garden. Here are our instructions and us out on route!

Maths - capacity and volume

In maths today we were learning the meaning of capacity and volume. We decided upon our defitions as a class and they are as follows: Capacity: How much a container can hold. Volume: How much the container currently holds. We estimated the capacity of a fairy liquid bottle and after a discussion we re-evaluated our answers. From there, we worked out the volume of the fairy liquid in the container.

Gymnastics

On Thursday's we attend Hemel Hempstead Secondary School for our gymnastic lessons. This is a great opportunity for us to develop our skills on various pieces on apparatus. Last week we used spring boards, wall bars, ropes and a whole load more apparatus to put together a sequence that included different ways to travel and balance. Look at us in action.
